How to read this guide

Each planet 'rules' its Horas. Tradition links each planet with certain kinds of work; the lists below are general guidance, not fixed rules. Pending review: these meanings are drawn from common Vedic practice and still await review by NumberHealer's numerologist.

Sun Hora

Traditionally used for: meeting senior people and government offices, leadership tasks, applying for positions, matters of reputation and father.

Usually avoided for: starting partnerships that need humility, travel for pleasure.

Moon Hora

Traditionally used for: family and home matters, dealing with the public, travel, anything connected with water, liquids, food and mother. Often considered generally gentle and helpful.

Usually avoided for: decisions that need a very steady mind when the person is emotionally unsettled.

Mars Hora

Traditionally used for: physical work, sport, surgery and technical repairs, property and land, dealing with disputes firmly.

Usually avoided for: marriage talks, signing agreements, starting friendships — Mars can bring friction.

Mercury Hora

Traditionally used for: study, writing, accounts, trade, communication, sending messages, learning a new skill.

Usually avoided for: very emotional conversations where facts are not the point.

Jupiter Hora

Traditionally used for: prayer and worship, teaching, meeting a guru or advisor, financial planning, auspicious beginnings, marriage-related matters. Widely treated as one of the best Horas.

Usually avoided for: little; tradition sees it as broadly favourable.

Venus Hora

Traditionally used for: love and marriage matters, buying clothes, jewellery and vehicles, art, music, beauty and entertainment.

Usually avoided for: hard confrontations and harsh physical work.

Saturn Hora

Traditionally used for: long, patient work, dealing with labour and servants, repairs of old things, charity to the needy, oil and iron-related trade.

Usually avoided for: new beginnings, travel, celebrations and important first meetings.
